That building on Bloomfield Avenue with the massive elk head mounted out front? It's been turning heads for decades, and most people still don't know what's inside. The Greater Essex Elks Lodge is one of Essex County's most storied fraternal organizations, a place where neighbors become members and members become family. The main hall is genuinely spacious, clean, and full of character, the kind of room that photographs beautifully and feels even better in person.

The Lodge holds a 4.4-star rating from real members and guests who've celebrated bridal brunches, milestone birthdays, and community fundraisers inside these walls. Reviewers consistently call out the well-kept bathrooms, the convenient rear parking lot, and pricing that actually makes sense for what you get. The cash bar delivers, the staff shows up, and the details that make an event feel special get handled without drama.

As a chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, this Lodge carries a mission that runs deeper than hall rentals: veterans support, youth programs, charitable giving, and civic engagement across Bloomfield and the greater Essex County area. Membership opens doors to a national network while keeping roots firmly planted right here on Bloomfield Ave.

What We Offer

The Lodge's event hall is the anchor, a high-ceilinged, versatile space that has hosted everything from intimate bridal brunches to large-scale community banquets. It's available for private rentals at rates that won't require a second mortgage, and the on-site cash bar keeps guests happy without outside catering headaches. Parking in the rear lot keeps arrivals smooth.

Beyond rentals, the Lodge runs a full calendar of member programming: social nights, charitable fundraisers, holiday events, and initiatives tied to the national Elks mission of supporting veterans and youth across New Jersey. Members gain access to lodge facilities, a community of like-minded neighbors, and the broader resources of the BPOE national network.

For those exploring membership, the process starts with a simple inquiry through the national Elks website. Whether you're booking the hall for a private event or considering joining one of New Jersey's most established fraternal organizations, the Lodge at 296 Bloomfield Ave is worth a closer look.

"Hey this spot is literally on Bloomfield Ave and its like people just have never noticed this nice building with a huge Elks head and horns as its centerpiece. I actually loved it, so spacious, almost fully loaded kitchen and a bar full of good drinks and cool bartender. The folks who manage this spot were really nice people and were helpful. If you are looking for a good space to hold a baby shower or sweet 16 this is def worth it. Check em out!!"

"I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Bloomfield Elks Lodge. Back in November, I spoke with JT to reserve the venue for a party on January 25th. He assured me the date was available, penciled me into the calendar, and provided his personal number to send my email so I could receive all the necessary information. He also confirmed we could come in the day before to decorate. Everything seemed set. Fast forward to this week, just days before the event. After multiple calls on January 21st and three more on January 23rd, I finally received a call back from Felicia. She told me she was ‘confused’ because the date had already been booked for another party. When I explained the situation and the prior arrangement with JT, she was dismissive, sarcastic, and unprofessional. Her response was, ’I don’t know what you want me to do. Do you want me to cancel the other parties?’ She repeatedly spoke over me, claiming she didn’t have time for this because she was at work, yet she’s the one who returned my call. While I understand mistakes can happen, the lack of accountability, professionalism, and basic courtesy was unacceptable. This experience has left me completely frustrated and disgusted with the way Bloomfield Elks Lodge handles business. I would not recommend this venue to anyone."
